Mountain of the plant
During a trip to New Zealand, a friend of mine surprised me with a visit to One Tree Hill. We hired a vehicle from auckland car rental and drove through to a dormant volcanic cone also know as ‘Maungakiekie’ which means ‘mountain of the plant’. The kiekie (plant) was traditionally used to make mats and baskets. The Maori tribe used to inhibit this area many years ago and evidence was found of boundary walls and ditches used for the purpose of defense in a battle. The most beautiful part of this stretch of land is the daffodils which spread across the earth like a blanket, very attractive.
