Medellin is regarded as The City of Eternal Springs. Putting aside Medellin’s lovely climate all year round, the city is jam packed with festivals beginning January  all the way to December of each year! Having lived in Medellin for an entire year, I got to see all Medellin festivals. But if you don’t have an entire year to stay in Medellin, you can at least travel there at a time when your favorite festival is celebrated.

One of the best Medellin festivals for tourists is La Feria de las Flores or the Medellin Flower Fair. The festival is celebrated throughout Medellin every August. Colombia is known worldwide as a major exporter of flowers and La Feria de las Flores highlights that about the country. It is Medellin’s most important cultural event wherein dozens of floats can be seen parading the streets. The entire event lasts for two weeks and has been celebrated since 1957.

With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, one of the things to do in Medellin is celebrate Los Alumbrados de Navidad with the locals. The event takes place all over Medellin beginning December until January of the following year. The festival makes Medellin the most beautiful city across South America during Christmas season. The most impressive parts of the city is Rio Medellin although large statues made of Christmas lights can be seen all over the city.

Between January and February, Medellin celebrates Feria Taurina de la Candelaria or Festival of the Bulls. It is held at the La Macarena Stadium and lasts for six long weeks. Even people who travel the world a lot know that Medellin is one of the few places in the world they can watch an authentic bull fight with costumed matadors. People from all over the world come to Medellin during these months just to catch a show!
