Live Bait Can Work Well For Crappie Fishing
Most of the time, when I think about going out crappie fishing, I think about using artificial lures, especially marabou jigs. These jigs are time tested and proven to work well. But there are a lot of fisherman that use live bait, and do very well with it. Let me just give you a couple of quick tips on using live bait for crappie fishing.
I would use live minnows in the 1 to 2 inch size range. Try to get the most lively ones possible, and try to keep them in a live well or other oxygen circulated environment. They need a lot of oxygen to survive for long periods of time. Then hook them through the upper and lower lip, and toss them out there and catch some crappie!
