The Education & Experience Of A CEO

How little or much is known of the typical chief executive officer of any given organization?  Is there a number of points that one must have achieved before being given this high position?  It seems that in the case of El-Hibri, who serves as the CEO of Emergent BioSolutions, one might believe that experience in upper management as well as impressive education could most certainly have paved the way for his present position.  As one recalls the days of the anthrax episodes, we can trust that there is one American company that has the ability to produce the anti-anthrax vaccine which might one day again be essential in the war on terrorism.
