Zhu Zhu Pets – What Do They Teach Kids About Responsibility?

Are children today just too sanitised and cossetted? It seems that we can get anything we want these days and enjoy all the fun without accepting any of the responsibility. The latest example of this is Zhu Zhu pets - which are advertised by the manufacturer as “pets without the mess”. I can certainly see how that would appeal to many – not least of all the parents of the children involved. There’s also no need to feed and water these cute little motorized hamsters. However, I do think that kids learn a lot about responsibility through having to help in some of the nurturing care required for a real live pet – something which has been eliminated (by design) with the Zhu Zhu pets.
