The majority of people in the USA have not yet made a will. These are people whose underage children would be protected by this document. If you need help on how to make a will you should research this online, or see an attorney. It does not matter if financially you do not feel a will is called for. When you have children, you owe it to them to provide some document as to what would happen to them in the case of your early death. Just naming someone as a god parent is not sufficient documentation for this purpose.
