Our Center Island Is A Masterpiece
The icing on the cake to a successful kitchen remodel is the island in the middle of the kitchen. The tile setter was given full creative freedom to design a mosaic that suited our tastes. He chose a lighthouse scene to compliment our coastal roots. Using smooth marble, the limestone, tumbled marble, slate, glass, and quartz counters he created a very impressive masterpiece that gets comments from every newcomer. The scene consists of a lighthouse, night sky (complete with grouted stars and constellations), ocean water, rocky coastline, and beach sand. All this is trimmed in the same repeating pattern from the backsplash. The grout is all stain resistant, and a sealant was applied to the finished product. It is a very heavy duty counter now, taking much use and wear from our large and busy family. Not only that, but it adds color, beauty, and unique character to our entire kitchen.
