My Neighbour Informs Me About Off The Grid Living

My neighbour has the neatest setup at his place.  He decided about a year ago that he was going to try and become self-sufficient. He wanted to be able to say good bye to all those high energy bills that he was getting each month.  He started off by first researching ways for off the grid living. He decided that he would start with a solar power system.  He bought a bunch of solar cells and attached them all together.  They are now a permanent fixture on the roof of his house.  He has several large batteries in the basement that he charges during the day with these panels.  That way he can live off the battery at night.  He is now in the process of installing some wind turbines. Now that is something that really interests me.
